A team of 3 college students, along with an experienced trekker, organised a trek for 10 people; I was assigned as the rear leader responsible for keeping the last person connected with the group.
My observations:
- When one participant repeatedly fell behind, I noticed that they were struggling more on inclines than flat sections and adjusted my pace accordingly rather than repeatedly asking them to hurry.
- When someone stopped for water, I waited until they were ready before moving ahead, while informing the person in front that we were temporarily stopping.
- When the group continued the trek after a break, I checked the rear of the group before leaving the spot so that nobody was accidentally left behind.
