Supervisor Policy
This policy explains who may apply for supervisor status, how applications are verified, and the responsibilities attached to submitting supervisor reviews.
1. Who may apply?
Depending on the activity and the applicant's ability to provide meaningful, evidence-based observations, eligible applicants may include:
- Faculty members: Faculty or teaching staff associated with the relevant course, semester, institution, or activity.
- College student-club leaders: Club office-bearers such as the president, vice president, secretary, or treasurer, where they have a relevant supervisory or coordinating role.
- External industry professionals: Industry experts, internship mentors, and workplace supervisors who have sufficient knowledge of the user's relevant work or behavior.
- Alumni: Alumni who are in a suitable mentoring, project-supervision, or professional guidance position.
- Subject-matter experts: Individuals with relevant expertise who can credibly assess the activity or context concerned.
2. Application and verification
- Apply for supervisor status.
- Provide the details requested in the application. This may include a verifiable institutional or work email address and information about your role, affiliation, or expertise.
- Respond to reasonable requests for additional verification information.
- Wait for the application to be reviewed. Applying does not automatically grant supervisor status.
2 Shabd may assess the relevance of the applicant's role, whether the supplied details can be verified, and whether the applicant can provide meaningful observations for the relevant activity. We may approve, decline, request clarification, or later suspend or remove supervisor status where appropriate.
3. Supervisor responsibilities
- Submit reviews only where you have an adequate factual basis to describe the person's behavior.
- Use the Review Writing Guidelines and keep each review within 1,000 characters.
- Describe the situation and observable behavior rather than relying on unsupported conclusions or general praise.
- Identify your role accurately and do not submit a supervisor review on behalf of another person.
- Protect confidential information and avoid including unnecessary sensitive personal data.
- Do not fabricate observations, coordinate collusive reviews, manipulate classifications, or attempt to influence the psychologist's assessment.
4. Supervisor reviews for a BCR
The intended BCR composition for each semester is one self-review, two peer reviews, and one supervisor review. All relevant accounts must be verified. A supervisor review must be associated with an eligible user who has applied for and obtained supervisor status as required by the Platform.
A person who holds supervisor status may be selected as a peer reviewer for a particular submission only where the BCR submission flow permits it and a separate eligible supervisor review is also designated. Reviewer categories must remain accurate and must not be manipulated to evade the required composition.
All reviews submitted for BCR consideration are subject to review by an authorized psychologist. Supervisor status does not guarantee that a submitted review will be included in a BCR.
5. Review integrity and role enforcement
2 Shabd may request further information, decline or remove a review, limit access to review features, or suspend or revoke supervisor status if information is inaccurate, eligibility cannot be verified, or the role is misused. Actions will be taken in accordance with the Terms of Use and applicable law.
